Romantic Holidays are for the most part are unofficial observances.
Unofficial Holidays are are not traditionally marked on calendars. These holidays are celebrated by various groups and individuals. Some are designed to promote a cause, others recognize historical events not recognized officially, & others are "funny" holidays, or tender & loving days.

Many of these unofficial holidays are subcultural or student holidays & observances that are publicized as Weird Holidays in many directories.

This is an incomplete list of unofficial holidays but will give you a general idea of what an unofficial holiday is. Fun holidays like these are forever being added & new ways-to-party-too.

  • To celebrate Resurrect Romance Week, demonstrate your love each day of the week by doing something romantic (not spending).

October is:
 Honor your sweetie on Sweetest Day with a sweet gift! The Detroit Sweetest Day Committee, Troy, MI. says the holiday started more than 70 years ago in Cleveland, where an anonymous donor provided small gifts to orphans and shut-ins on the third Saturday in October every year.
Candy makers and florists soon adopted it, and the holiday has spread to other states, but it's celebrated mostly in Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Illinois.

  • This is a Christmas time custom that is celebrated in many places. The custom is that a young woman standing under mistletoe should expect to be kissed, and according to custom, cannot be refuse!
