In honor of all the National Food Holidays in our calendar,
this page is dedicated to Fruit Holidays..

When is National Cherry Month?
The month of February is National Cherry Month.
National Cherry Pie Day is always February 20th.

Definition: Pie
meat, fish, fowl, fruit, or vegetables baked with a crust of pastry, or pastry shells filled with custard or pudding.

If you 've never eaten a fresh cherry pie, you 're in for a treat if you make one straight from scratch. It 's a bit of work to pit the cherries, but once this is done, there 's not much left to do: mix the cherries with almond and vanilla extracts, sugar and tapioca and bake away until you have the whole house smelling wonderful with the smell of fresh baked cherry pie. Your whole family will love it!

Gone-ta-pott Choc Chip Cherry Pie
Special Recipe
This is a recipe you won't forget!  I love choc chip cherry icecream with walnuts sprinckled on top, so I made this pie with that in mind.

Ingredients - Crust
1/2 cup chocolate chips
5 Tablespoons crushed walnuts
6 Tablespoons butter
3/4 cup rolled oats
3/4 cup flour
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
Ingredients - Filling
One 16-ounce can cherry pie filling
One 16-ounce can tart water-packed red cherries
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
Ingredients - Topping
3 Tablespoons soft salted butter
1/2 cup flour
2 Tablespoons packed brown sugar
2 Tablespoons rolled oats
1/4 cup chocolate chips
Grease a 10-inch pie pan. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Crust: Melt 1/2 cup chocolate chips and 6 tablespoons butter. Remove from heat and stir in the 5 tablespoons of walnuts, 3/4 cup oats, 3/4 cup flour, and 1/4 cup brown sugar. Mix and press evenly into pie pan. Bake for 10 minutes.

Filling: Combine pie filling, cherries, and almond extract. Pour into baked pie crust.

Topping: Stir together the 1/2 cup flour, 2 Tablespoons brown sugar, and 2 Tablespoons rolled oats. Cut in 3 Tablespoons butter until coarse. Stir in the 1/4 cup chocolate chips.

Sprinkle filling on top of pie. Bake in 350-degree oven for 35 minutes. Cool.

You have to serve this hot with IceCream and walnuts sprinckled on top!  ~Giggle~  Pore a nice hot cup of coffee to drink along side of it too!
It is wonderful!

Cherry Cheesecake Pie
I absolutely love cream cheese and this is a delicious cherry pie with cream cheese filling.
2 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups sour cream
2 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened and cut in pieces
2 tablespoons melted butter
graham cracker crumb crust
1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling
Graham Cracker Crust:
1 cup graham cracker crumbs, about 15 graham crackers
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup melted butter

Combine Graham Cracker Crumb Crust ingredients. Press into a 9-inch pie pan. Bake at 400° for 6 minutes. Cool before filling.
Prepare cheesecake pie filling.

Beat together eggs, sugar, vanilla, and sour cream. Gradually add cream cheese, beating well. Beat in melted butter. Pour cheese mixture into 9-inch prepared and baked graham cracker crust. Bake cherry cheesecake pie at 325° for 35 minutes, or until set in center. Will firm up as it cools. Top with cherry pie filling; chill cherry cheesecake pie thoroughly before serving.

Gone-ta-pott Dump Spread & Chill Pie
EASY Recipe
This recipe is really no recipe at all. All you do is dump spread and chill. This is excellent for those nights when unexpected company pops in and you need something quick to fix.

1 graham cracker crust
1 can of cherry pie filling
1 8oz. coolwhip topping
Dump the can of cherry pie filling in crust & spread flat.
Dump as much coolwhip topping on top of cherry pie filling until it reaches the top of pie. Spread.
I always keep chocolate sprinckles on hand so I sprinckle the top with those.  Not only does the hent of chocolate taste good but it makes the pie look great too.
Now if you want to get a little fancier, you can use a baked crust- then spread a thin layer of chocolate syrup on the crust before you dump the cherries in. yummie
