It's nice to make a good impression with new neighbours, so why not make them a helpful basket.

STEPS
1) - Find or purchase a medium sized wicker basket. Line the bottom of it with a blanket or some decorative paper.

2) - Buy things to fill the basket. New neighbors are usually running short of practical things such as instant coffee and sugar, so it might be a good idea to put those kind of things in. Put in a bottle of wine, or a box of chocolates as a luxury to welcome them to the neighborhood. Put in some cups and mugs. This is a good idea as crockery sometimes gets broken during house moves. Try and stay away from buying personal things, such as clothes and toothpaste.

3) - Purchase a housewarming card. Find out your new neighbor's name(s), and write a little welcome message inside. Tell them if they need anything, you're happy to help. Place the card in the top of the basket so it doesn't get damaged.

4) - Decorate the basket by tying a decorative ribbon onto the handle.

5) - Bake them some cookies or a nice dessert the day or day before you give them the basket. Put the food in a tupperware box. Warm homemade food is a nice treat when you're busy moving home as you have little time to make hot food yourself. Your neighbors may also be touched by this thoughtful gesture.

TIPS
Add anything you think may help to the basket.

How To Welcome New Neighbors
A gift basket, or fruit basket: is typically a gift delivered to the recipient at their home or workplace. A variety of gift baskets exist: some contain fruit; while others might contain dry or canned foods such as tea, crackers and jam; or the basket might include a combination of fruit and dried good items. Gourmet gift baskets typically include exotic fruit, and often include good quality cheese and wine, as well as other nonfood items.

Gift baskets for occasions: Often a gift basket will have a theme, such as for an occasion such as Christmas, graduation, birthday, anniversary, baby shower, housewarming, or Valentine's Day. A basket can be made to suit the dietary restrictions of the recipient, such as diabetic, vegan/vegetarian, or gluten intolerance.
