National Peppermint Pattie Day - February 11
The truth is in the spelling! This holiday is actually about the peppermint confectionery candy covered in dark chocolate and not the peanuts character which is spelled "Patty" and not pattie.

Many chocolate-covered peppermints had been made before the York Peppermint Pattie came on the market but it was Hersey Foods Corporation who made them famous in 1940 with the candies bearing the York name.

The confectionery features strongly contrasting flavors, with a particularly bitter chocolate coating around a sugar center. A sugar-free version of the candy is also available.

White T-Shirt Day / White Shirt Day - February 11
This holiday celebrates the men and women who participated in a strike at General Motors in 1937.  "These autoworkers helped the United Auto Workers (UAW) union to become the sole bargaining agent for General Motors autoworkers." As part of the symbolism of this strike, everyone wears a white shirt or blouse.

Note: This holiday started out as 'White Shirt Day' but some how over the years the title turned into White T-Shirt Day for those who didn't know the history of the holiday therefore created their own version of this day, giving birth to the title "White T Shirt Day" .

National Inventors' Day (United States) - February 11
Inventors' Day is a day of the year set aside by a country to recognise the contributions of inventors. Not all countries recognise Inventors' Day. Those countries which do recognise an Inventors' Day do so with varying degrees of emphasis and on different days of the year.

Ronald Reagan as President of the United States proclaimed February 11, 1983 as National Inventors' Day, Proclamation 5013, to "..call upon the people of the United States to observe this day with appropriate ceremonies and activitites". In recognition of the enormous contribution inventors make to the nation and the world, the Congress, pursuant to Senate Joint Resolution 140 (Public Law 97 - 198), has designated February 11, the anniversary of the birth of the inventor Thomas Alva Edison who had over 1,000 patents, as National Inventors' Day.
