Homemade Soup Day (always February 4) - US Observance / Food Holiday
"Soup is a food that is made by combining ingredients such as meat and vegetables with stock, juice, water or another liquid. Hot soups are additionally characterized by boiling solid ingredients in liquids until the flavor is extracted, forming a broth. Soup is often very nutritous."

"One of the first types of soups can be dated to about 6,000 B.C. Boiling was not a common cooking technique until the invention of waterproof containers (which probably came in the form of pouches made of clay or animal skin) about 9,000 years ago. Soup can be made out of broth or a form of liquid."

This Holiday is Celebrate by: Making a large pot of soup and sharing.
On this day we are encouraged to get back to comfort foods like homemade soup. Don't waste your time opening a can soup today. It's all about "homemade." So on National Homemade Soup Day, remember your favorite soup recipe and celebrate by making your family a pot of the real stuff.
