What is a Birthday Party?
"A birthday party is a celebration of the anniversary of the birth of the person who is being honored. Birthday parties are a feature of many cultures.

Decorations:
In Western cultures, particularly in the United States and Australia, birthday parties are often accompanied by colorful decorations, such as balloons, streamers, party hats, horns and sometimes pinatas.

Birthday Cake:
A birthday cake is often served with candles on a cake that are to be blown out after a “birthday wish” has been made. Around the world many variations on the birthday cake, or rather the birthday pastry or sweets, exist." "Birthday cakes are common to most Western birthday celebrations. In many cultures, a birthday cake is a must for children's birthdays and many times take the form of a favorite cartoon character.

Birthday Song:
While the birthday cake is being brought to the table, the song "Happy Birthday to You" is sung by the guests.

Party Location:
A child’s birthday party may be held at his/her home or in a public place such as a park or fast food restaurant which holds childrens birthday parties. Pizza parlors are a favorite location for children's parties.  Adults’ birthday parties in Western countries are often held in bars or nightclubs. Wealthy people and celebrities may hire an event management agency or a party service to organize a birthday party.

Food & Drink:
Cake: A Birthday Cake is the #1 food that is served at birthday parties and with every birthday cake you find ice cream to go with it!
Ice cream:Yep, you can't served birthday cake with out ice cream! Ice cream comes in every flavor imaginable.
Drinks: Soft drinks, mixed drinks or punch is popular at adult birthday parties and coolaid is a favorite drink for children.
Table food: both sweet and savory foods are typically served to guests. Chip-n-dip, nachos & cheese, tortillas and salsa, cheeseballs & crackers are all popular party foods.
Costumes: Birthday parties for children often feature entertainment, costumes, and a theme. Pirate Costume parties are popular with both children and adults. (see pirate food recipes /pirate drinks & pirate costumes)

Egg Hunt is a popular game for spring parties:
"Egg hunt is a game during which decorated eggs,
real hard-boiled ones or artificial, filled with or made
of chocolate candies, of various sizes, are hidden in
various places for children to find. The game may be
both indoors and outdoors. The egg was a symbol of
the rebirth of the earth in Pagan celebrations of spring
and was adopted by early Christians as a symbol of
the rebirth of man at Easter. Traditionally the game is
associated with Easter and Easter eggs
(Easter egg hunt), but it has also been popular with
spring time birthday parties."
