How is this holiday celebrated?
It's a day to celebrate card playing with your friends and family!
Most of our research shows that this day is celebrated by sending fun greeting cards and enjoying a day of playing card games of the past as well as playing new card games. This day is a day to keep alive games that have survived for centuries as a form of entertainment. We are encouraged to pass on the old traditions of playing cards.
More and more people are celebrating this holiday each year because so many people love games. As the popularity of this holiday gains strength, we find that card lovers turn this day into a day of family card tournaments. Yes it seems that this holiday is gaining popularity as a day for families to put on their own card game tournaments and have some old fashion fun.
It's good to play games that are not computer related or electric related.
If you are a parent who has ever went through a power outage then you know how thankful it is to have a few deck of cards laying around the house when there's nothing to do. Sometimes we forget just how depended we are on electric games in order to have fun. Many kids base most of their entertainment on games like Nintendo, Wii, Sonic Playstation, x box 360, etc.- you get the idea. So when bad weather causes us to stay indoors or shuts down all games that take electricity to run, you can bet we are glad to know how to play cards.

Origin of this Holiday
Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this day.
It is possible this holiday may of been created by the greeting card industry because we find reference to it on greeting card sites but no reference to the background of the holiday. Such as- why the month of December and why the 28th day?? That's the question...
This holiday is still referred to as a "National" day. However, we did not find any congressional records or presidential proclamations for this day. Even though we didn't, this is still a holiday that is publicized to celebrate and we do in fact find people who celebrate this day.
We found plenty of recognition from calendar sites and personal Internet sites that blog and share information about this holiday.
So enjoy the day and have fun with it. Live everyday like a holiday!

Definition of Card Game
"A card game is any game using playing cards, either traditional or game-specific." "Countless card games exist, including families of related games (such as poker)." "Some games have formally standardized rules, while rules for others can vary by region, culture, and person."
Types of card games
Trick-taking games
Matching games
Shedding games
Accumulating games
Fishing games
Comparing games
Solitaire (or Patience) games
Drinking card games
Multi-genre games
Collectible card games (CCGs)
Casino or gambling card games
Poker games
Fictional card games
Other card games
Many other card games have been designed and published on a commercial or amateur basis. In some cases, the game uses the standard 52-card deck, but the object is unique. In Eleusis, for example, players play single cards, and are told whether the play was legal or illegal, in an attempt to discover the underlying rules made up by the dealer.
Most of these games however typically use a specially-made deck of cards designed specifically for the game (or variations of it). The decks are thus usually proprietary, but may be created by the game's players.
