When is Gone-ta-pott Day?
Gone-ta-pott Day is always the 28th of every month.

First, what does Gone-ta-pott mean anyway?
Gone-ta-pott or gone to pot is a "idiom."

Many times this idiom is pronounced Gone-ta-pott when a person is announcing how their day has gone. "My day has just gone-ta-pott!"

How did this day become a holiday?
Weeks before this website first made it's appearance on the Internet; we were not having the best of luck and decided to go down to the river (28th of the month) to take a break from life for the day. While at the river, I (Pam)  was having a conversation with my brother Eddie about how life sometimes knocks the breath out of you and my brother asked me- "Well what are you going to do now?" I sarcastically said.... " I think I'm going to design a website and call it Gone-ta-pott.com since that seems to be what I know the most about right now."  Needless to say, I said it as a joke and we all laughed but all the rest of that day it kept coming to my mind over and over again. (I wonder if I could build a website? I wonder?)  2 days later I started researching the Internet on how to do it and that is exactly what I did.

In 2004 our website www.gone-ta-pott.com made it's first appearance on the Internet. The webmaster is myself, Pamela Price Svoboda and website owners are myself and my hubby Stephen. This website is a fun Holiday Directory that's based on the calendar of events. This site lists upcoming holidays and gives the history and significance of some of the most widely celebrated days. It also gives in great detail fun facts about the holidays and great references too.  This directory also give great detail to National food holidays and recipe examples. Because of the large directory of holidays; it seemed only natural to proclaim a wacky holiday for ourselves since everyone else had one. After all... who better to have a holiday than us right.
So... Gone-ta-pott Day was born!

Our calendar now has a new Gone-ta-pott Day that fit's right into the
weird wacky & wild list of holidays

We named it!
We claimed it!
We published it!
and we declared it for ours!

This is referred to as a "National" day but like most all weird holidays there are no congressional records or presidential proclamations for this fun holiday. Even though, this is still a holiday that is publicized to celebrate. So have fun with it and celebrate it!

Have you ever had a day that's just gone-ta-pott?
Blog with us about it!
We all have right. In fact each month we usually experience one of those days that we wish we could just snap our fingers and make the day start over. How many times have you come home to your family and said "my day has gone-ta-pott? I think it's far time we look on the bright side of life and see the humor in a day that's gone to pott. It's time to tell the tales and let everyone laugh about it on Gone-ta-pott Day, the 28th of every month!

What is this Holiday for?
This holiday is for seeing the humor in a bad day!
This Holiday is set aside for people around the world to appreciate
and get a good laugh out of a bad day we've had or a bad week that we've had. This day is set aside so friends can come together over a few drinks and table snacks and get a big laugh out of all the stories being told  about who had the worse day for the month. Invite all your friends and family over to share in the laughter. We all love to hear a good story and we all jump to attention when someone says..... let me tell you what happened to...! So on this day everybody needs to tell their best gone-ta-pott stories so everyone can get a big laught out of it.

Why was the 28th of each month picked?

Have you had a gone-ta-pott day?
Let me tell you about one Christmas morning. We had 2 children-- age 8, age 10. The kids asked Santa to bring them their very first bikes. Well Santa placed all of the toys around the tree and 1 bike. Santa forgot to bring in the second bike from his hiding place. My day had gone-ta-pott when I heard my 8 year old crying because Santa forgot him. :(

After that we had a family Christmas dinner to go to. My wife is know for being the best cook in the family so everyone looks forward to any dish that she makes.

~My day went to pot when- while packing her casserole in a box I dropped it and it spilt all over the floor. My wife quickly had to make a pot of instant potatoes because she couldn't show up empty handed. What frowns were on everyone's face when the lid was lifted to see instant food!

It was storming outside Christmas morning and the yard was a muddy mess. While loading up the kids and food and gifts to go to the Christmas party....I knew my day had gone-to-pott when while in my rush I slipped in the mud and fell...dropped all the beautifully wrapped gifts I was loading.

Needless to say my wife was pissed off. Not only had I made my son cry but I destroyed the food. I dropped the gifts in the mud. I even soiled my new pants that my wife gave me for Christmas.
